João Lourenço is a Licensed Psychologist, trained in Portugal, with over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families in Portugal and the United Arab Emirates. He has held senior clinical and leadership roles, including Co-Founder and Director of Child Services at The Free Spirit Collective (FSC) and Head of Therapies for Children at Aspris by AlKamal in Dubai.
João is committed to evidence-based, developmentally informed care. He works mainly with neurodevelopmental disorders (including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD), anxiety and trauma-related disorders, attachment and parent–child relationship difficulties, and behavioural and emotional regulation challenges. His clinical work draws on CBT, TF-CBT, ACT, DBT-informed interventions, MBT-CYP, the Reflective Parenting model, and play-based methods, with interventions tailored to each child’s developmental stage and family context.
He works primarly with Neurodevelopmental disorders (ASD/ADHD), generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks and panic disorder, specific phobias, health anxiety, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress and trauma-related difficulties, depression and low mood, peer and family/relationship difficulties, parent–infant and attachment difficulties, behavioural and emotional regulation problems, school/exam/college stress, low self-esteem and self-image difficulties, parenting difficulties, emerging personality-related difficulties.
